Job Description
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Coordinates, leads, and assists with the development and implementation of post-secondary programming for caseload students and recruitment of P4K (Partnership 4 Kids) high school students
Meet one-on-one with college caseload students and families to assist students in achieving retention and graduation goals.
Serves as the agency liaison to post-secondary support primarily at the Metropolitan Community College (MCC) campuses but also for Other Omaha Metro Area college students. Help coordinate visits, events, and other programming related items.
Responsible for managing relationships with partners at academic institutions and acting as the liaison for financial aid, scholarship office, and other supports.
Plan and execute various student engagement activities and events for college program participants including lunch and learns, campus tours, community service opportunities, graduation celebration, and summer bridge program.
Assist with managing relationships with university and secondary officials and high school graduates to promote student success, retention, graduation, and post-secondary enrollment.
Manage and coordinate the College Peer Mentoring Program, Student Leadership Committee, and Laptop Lending Library to support student success.
Assists with HS seniors transitioning to college and in other areas of programming including summer workshps as needed. Works with P4K High School Program Coordinators/AmeriCorps Members on presentations and tours of the MCC campuses for student recruitment.
2. Administer scholarships and oversee post-secondary caseload tracking, outcomes, and grant requirements.
- Provide data tracking for caseload scholarship participants including grades, financial aid assessment, and years of funding by utilizing Civicore and excel documents.
Complete case notes and input data to track college outcomes and support services. Maintain ongoing regular communication (social media, email, phone/text, etc.) with caseload students and parents to ensure engagement in the program and goal completion and completes intervention plans for success.
Maintain communication and reporting with MCC personnel, including quarterly reports, receiving invoices, etc.
Determine scholarship amounts based on financial paperwork and information and disperses the funds to institutions. Adhere to and make recommendations to policy guidelines set forth by the scholarship endowment and produce reports to support compliance with these guidelines.
Maintain records of scholarship activities and sends appropriate correspondence to recipients outlining scholarship guidelines and updates.
Assist an needed with grant submissions, board reporting, data and outcomes assessments, program evaluations including administering student surveys, alumni network engagement and marketing student success to donors and stakeholders.
Team/Agency Goals
Contribute to individual, team and agency goals by assisting with programming, volunteer, and development goals, including special projects, recruitment and retention of donors, volunteers and students and all other duties as assigned.
Participate in agency committees and attend agency events as needed.
Attend relevant training focusing on mentorship, volunteer management, and youth development.
Use personal vehicle to drive to school meetings, student, and agency special events, and as needed, provide transportation for program participants.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Bachelor's degree required. Master's preferred.
2. Preference given to bilingual candidates (Spanish and English)
3. Strong written communication skills required for assisting with scholarship essays, letters of recommendation and student advocacy with university officials.
4. Strong computer skills required to perform essential functions listed above.
5. Skilled in verbal communication. Experience facilitating lessons for college students, public speaking to large groups and an ability to interact with multiple stakeholders (donors, college and high school administrators, volunteers, etc.)
6. Daily access 6to a reliable vehicle for traveling to meetings and transporting young people, as needed. State minimum liability insurance requirements must be maintained for the duration of employment. A driver's license and an acceptaqble driving record must be maintained throughout employment. Refer to the employee policy and procedure manual for a complete list of acceptable driving information and requirement. Program Specialists will be required to drive 10-15 passenger van for various events and outings.
7. Must be a self-starter and able to work independently to achieve goals. The position is mobile and involves flexibility and travel to meet students on college campuses for retention support visits.
8. Experience and passion for working with diverse populations and students between the ages of 16 and 25.
9. Ability to work efficiently within a team setting, share ideas and manage time effectively.
10. Weekend and evening availability required.
