Job Description
Memorial Health Care Systems, an award-winning Critical Access Hospital in Seward, NE is seeking a Full-Time Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT). This is a day position with one on-call or evening shift per week, including 1 of 7 weekends and rotating holidays.

SUMMARY: Performs medical laboratory tests, procedures, experiments, and analyses to provide data for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
- Collects specimens from patients using appropriate techniques and protocols.
- Performs laboratory tests on all patient specimens. Records test results in the laboratory information system and follows procedures for the reporting of patient results to physicians.
- Operates laboratory instruments and performs preventative maintenance on instruments. Calibrates and troubleshoots laboratory equipment.
- Participates in proficiency testing and maintains quality assurance and quality control programs.
- Prepares reagents according to manufacturer’s instructions.
- Communicates non-routine laboratory problems to the supervisor.
- Cooperates with other health care professionals to maintain good working relationships throughout the organization.

- Medical Laboratory Scientist - Bachelor's degree (B. A.) or Medical Laboratory Technician – Associates' degree, from an accredited college.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid driver’s license with clean record. Registration with American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP).
