Job Description

Summary:

The part time airport security escort conducts inspections and escorts tenant delivery and support vehicles entering the airside sections of the airport. Duties will be performed from within and outside a vehicle in all weather conditions.

The position will normally be staffed Monday through Friday 4:30am-12pm. Employee will generally be limited to a work week of 30-40 hours every two weeks. The position requires the ability to follow specific security/inspections protocol, recognize and report illegal or suspicious activity, achieve and maintain Non-Movement Area Driving Certification and possess physical and mental abilities to operate a vehicle, conduct inspections, and explain in detail escort procedures. This position is a non-union position and is not covered by a collective bargaining agreement.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Conducts inspections of vehicles entering the SIDA/Secured area of the airport.
  • Provides escorts to vehicles entering/exiting the SIDA/Secured area of the airport.
  • Compiles documentation regarding inspection / escort activity for OAA billing purposes.
  • Monitors terminal ramp activity to ensure compliance with OAA rules and regulations.
  • Conducts perimeter security inspections, when available.
  • Monitors contracted snow removal equipment on the airport’s terminal ramp.
  • Performs other duties in support of Airport Police safety and security protocol.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • High School graduate or GED Certificate.

  • Able to operate a handheld radio, vehicle radio and Apple smart phone as used for radio to radio and telephone communications, with the ability to read, write and speak the English language in a clear and concise manner.

  • Must have vision correctable to 20/20 in both eyes, cannot be color blind, and must be able to view and distinguish images on computer, projector and television screens for extended periods.

  • Must be capable of reading, hearing and understanding task procedures and instructional information associated with job-related equipment.

  • Must have physical strength, coordination, agility and mental capabilities necessary to operate a vehicle on the airport’s non-movement area in all weather conditions.

  • Must possess valid Nebraska or Iowa operator’s license. Driving history records check will be conducted.

  • Non-movement area certification required by the end of the training period.

  • Prior experience operating a vehicle in the airport’s non-movement area is preferred.

Employment is contingent on the ability to successfully complete a background check, pre-employment physical with negative drug screen results and the ability to obtain an Omaha Airport Authority ID badge.
